Project#1

Below is an assortment of some recent work i did on a close friend of mine. These are some of her senior portraits below.

I like to capture a persons emotion/presence …not a dead face. A good looking person doesn’t always take a good picture. Marisa was absolutely comfortable throughout the entire shoot and i think it really showed in most of the pictures. Here is what i did through photoshop:

1. bumped up the contrast with my levels

2. Used the heal tool to fix any small blemishes on her face

3. Used the paint brush to even out skin tone and give her eyes a little more pop in color and in darkness.I also used the paint brush to give her a little darker tone for her arms and legs

4. used mask tool to darken the background and then used my paint brush to reveal her from under the mask layer and make her pop more in the picture.

I wanted to do something out of the ordinary for her seniors. I drove down to the beach made her put a white dress on and jump in. I took these about sunset and the lighting was absolutely beautiful.

Here is what i did on photoshop:

1.bumped up the contrast with my levels

2. Used the heal tool to fix any small blemishes on her face

3. Used the paint brush to even out skin tone and give her eyes and lips a little more pop in color and in darkness.I also used the paint brush to give her a little darker tone for her arms.

4.I used my hue/saturation tool to give the water a little bit brighter color.

For this picture i really wanted to highlight marisa and drown out the background. Even the though the background is gray i don’t really believe its dull or boring .I believe it brought out the color of her eyes, lips, and skin tone.

This was my process in photoshop:

1.bumped up the contrast with my levels

2.Bumped up the contrast to give her a little more color

        3. Used the heal tool to fix any small blemishes on her face

4.Used the paint brush to even out skin tone and give her eyes and lips a little more pop in color .

5. Used mask tool to darken the background and then used my paint brush to reveal her from under the mask layer and make her pop more in the picture.

i then repeated this making the brick a little darker and more contrasted.

  1. I am not going to leave too much of a comment since I have been helping you quite a bit.

The big thing that I want to say, is this is great work. With that said, you need to push yourself to go faster, don’t spend 3 days on one photo. I know you can do this or else I wouldn’t be telling you to do it. You need to discipline yourself to do this though. Keep up the great work, just go faster.

Be sure to post links to a photographer that you have looked at for inspiration. Points are given for that.

  2. Hey em, your email stuff is working… good job on the photos by the way :D text the boy when you can… PEACE, oh and i lost your number
